So my solution has been to knot the thread and then go back when I'm all done with the donut and trim the thread away between the hexagons. The little tail is hidden below the seam allowance. I know with knots at both ends it is not coming undone, plus when I set in the center hexagon, they will be reinforced again. Thus, I don't start and stop the thread as I make the donut.Angie in SoCalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01689281551068732574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-355830180271785865.post-50908829609859510132015-04-04T14:28:49.368-07:002015-04-04T14:28:49.368-07:00In answer to your question when I make the donut I...In answer to your question when I make the donut I knot off the thread as I sew the hexagons together to make the donut. I know that some people carry the thread but I was taught that when doing needlework of any sort that the back should be neat and tidy so I never carry threads whether I'm sewing or embroidering! Hope this helps!Karen Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01166374693095867682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-355830180271785865.post-34692871415871099412015-04-04T13:45:57.871-07:002015-04-04T13:45:57.871-07:00Thanks for going over this, Karen -- I have one qu...Thanks for going over this, Karen -- I have one question? I understand that you use one continuous thread when setting in the center hexagon, but when you are making the "donut" of hexagons, are you starting the thread and stopping the thread for each connection seam in the donut?Mary Hueyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09930632913728046516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-355830180271785865.post-21712336197652457652015-04-02T08:31:06.130-07:002015-04-02T08:31:06.130-07:00Great tutorial! I'm trying to make my Rosette #1 of Katja QAL and see for myself how much easier it is to leave that center to the last to help make the choice for the center.
