A little bit of this and that

I heard from another reader who wants to make her own Godstone Grannies (GG) quilt. So exciting! If there are others out there maybe I should set up a Flickr page where we can post pictures of our blocks! Let me know if you are interested! If you do want to make your own blocks and need help I would be pleased to assist.

I managed to stitch another GG block last night. These are the four fabrics I chose; I fussy cut the rust print and the black and white print.

This is the block which will be one of the filler blocks for the top and bottom. It is one of a two blocks. The second is cut out and ready to be basted and stitched. The hexagons are 3/4".

I finished quilting the hourglass blocks in the border of Piccadilly to the Nines. I just love the thread which is Superior's Fantastico. It is a lightweight polyester thread with a lovely sheen. It is a variegated thread with a variety of spring greens and turquoise. It is a lovely thread and I love quilting with it. Better yet my machine loves it too! I used Superior's The Bottom Line in the bobbin.

I decided that I wanted to use this thread in other places so I used it to quilt the  3"churn dash blocks in the inner border. I stitched in the ditch around the patches in the block and I quilted a little curvy four point star shape in the center of the block. Without the quilting the blocks were a little too puffy but this quilting flattened the block nicely and I am pleased with the look!
