Value Proposition QAL - Block 12

Welcome back to my Value Proposition Hexagon Quilt Along (QAL). Where does the time go? I can't believe it has already been two weeks since the last block. Today I've got Block 12 of 18 for you. Once again, it is another one of my absolute favourites!

Value Proposition Map for Block 12

Value Proposition Recipe for Block 12
  • Cut 12 Light identified as A on Map (3 for Round 1 and 9 for Round 3)
  • Cut 9 Medium* identified as B on Map (for Round 2)
  • Cut 16 Dark** identified as C on Map (for Centre, 3 for Round 1, 3 for Round 2 and 9 for Round 3)

* I used a striped fabric for B and paid particular attention to the placement of the stripes.
** I had 3 scrap of a medium fabric (taupe with dots) so I used them at the points of the spokes in Round 3 rather than cut more fabric.
My Value Proposition Block 12

And here it is in colour. I an really drawn to muddy colours so this block looks dull but you can certainly go with brighter colours. Bear in mind that this QAL is all about value, the relative lightness or darkness of a particular fabric when compared to another so while colour is important value is more important for a successful block.

I set up a Value Proposition QAL page on Flickr so that you can post pictures of your blocks and also see what others are doing! There are many very different and exciting blocks to see and there are also some pictures showing a bunch of blocks arranged together and that is very exciting to see!

If you are looking for previous Block installments of my Value Proposition Hexagon QAL you will find all of the links under the tab Quilt Alongs by Karen H just under the banner. Have fun making Block 12. Block 13 will be available on October 3, 2014.

I hope you are having fun with my QAL! If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment or send me an email. I send an email response to every comment so if you don't hear from me it means you are a no-reply blogger and I have no way of contacting you (unless you leave me your email address).

Until I post again, happy sewing!

Karen H
