Godstone Grannies and Sheila's quilt

I just want to remind everyone that I reply to every comment so if you don't hear back from me it means you are a no-reply blogger so I have no way to contact you!

Last night I finished stitching another Godstone Grannies hexagon block. I like the look of the brown double diamond in this one. Bees were fussy cut for the centers of each diamond. This is the first of a pair and the second one is cut, basted and ready to be stitched together! The hexies are 3/4".

I checked out the Soupcon Flicker Group and I see Sheila is adding borders to her Soupcon quilt. I think what she is doing is absolutely perfect. I had been eyeballing this border for another quilt so I am pleased to see it in action on Soupcon. Well done Sheila!

I finished quilting my Mom's African banner quilt so she can now start embellishing it with beads and whatnot. The busy fabric at the top and bottom was a great place to experiment with different designs. I tried out some clam shell quilting to fill a little spot and it turned out reasonably well. I'm okay with reasonably well! Tomorrow I'll show you how I did it!

Until I post again, happy sewing!

  2. Loving your GG blocks, I just wish i had the time to sew along with it...Thanks for the kind words about my rope border, the plan is to reverse the direction of the twist for the side borders and place a circle or hexie in the corner

  3. Sheila's quilt is awesome; please tell her so. Your Godstone Grannies blocks are so pretty-how many do you have make in total? Is there a picture of the antique quilt you're basing it on?

  5. Karen, I love the bees! so cute. The Godstone blocks are so tempting but with way too many WIP's I cannot play along, in fact I spent all day yesterday gathering up what I need (and shopping for more fabric) to make the value proposition where I am already 2 installments behind! Loving all your hexie projects. You could say I've been hexed!

  6. Love, love, love the bees. They add just the right touch to an already amazing quilt. Sheila's quilt is gorgeous and I think the borders will be perfect, for it.
