Quilting - Mission Impossible

If you are visiting for the Grow Your Blog Giveaway on my blog please go here. The winner will be drawn on the morning of February 15, 2015! If you leave a comment and don't hear back you are a no reply blogger and I cannot enter you in the draw!

I got started on the quilting of my Mom's latest African themed quilts. I stitched around each of the appliques and then was ready to start filling in the details. I quilted brick-like shapes in the foreground for the earth.

Here you can see a close-up of the brick shapes.

The next step will be to add grass in the mid-ground, followed by farrows in the fields in the background and last of all wind in the sky. If I could get a couple of hours of uninterrupted sewing it would be nearly quilted but it seems that this will be mission impossible because someone wants to help and I don't really want his help! If I'm moving the quilt toward me he is pulling away and if I'm moving it away from me, he is pushing it toward me. I took a break to stretch and he plopped himself down on the quilts, grabbed my glove and had a good chew. Little Stinker!

I've managed to stitch a few more hexagon rosettes for my Birds in the Loft quilt. I've cut a second block with the blue and brown stripe but the stripes will circle the centre rather than radiate out! A little variety is good!

I love the way the centre blends with the brown hexagons to create the illusion of a round centre!

The pieces for this block have been laying around for some time. I made them for a tutorial which you will find here. I added a centre hexagon and it was done!

It is very cold here and there is lots of snow and while it isn't nice outside it is warm and cozy inside. The cold makes the cat sleep so fingers crossed I can get some quilting done while he is in slumberland! Until I post again, happy sewing!

  2. Just took a look at your post on how to make these hexie flowers. They are fantastic. Is it okay if I post a link to your blog post about these on the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap blog?

  4. How clever of you to place a kitten on your quilt to add a sense of scale, I thought it was much smaller than that LOL

  5. Chuckling away at Kaths comment about scale lol and
    such cute rosettes too.
Mums quilts are so delightful, lucky she has you to do the quilting, it can give her more time to stitch lol

  6. Your little helper is so adorable. I lost my baby in December, but she was never one to help in the sewing room. Your rosettes are all pretty. You come up with such interesting combinations. It's like looking through a kaleidoscope on each one.
